Reporting Pupil Absence

All absences must be reported via Class Charts:

How to report absence through Class Charts

  • Please log in to Class Charts app and you will see a labelled ‘report absence’. On the app, this will appear along the top of the screen. On a web browser, this will appear on the left-hand side.

  • Input the absence date and reason for absence. Please be specific about the reason, rather than just stating ‘illness’. If the reason is not specific enough, we will need to follow up for more information.

  • Attach supporting evidence if necessary (e.g. an appointment letter/text)

  • During the morning, you will be able to see that the absence has been ‘acknowledged’ if there is enough information provided. If it is not acknowledged, please edit to add more information.

If a student is absent for more than 4 days due to illness, a doctor's note must be provided.

How do we communicate your child’s absence to you?

We employ two systems to help report to parents.

  1. Daily Attendance Messages - Each student's attendance is checked daily, parents will receive a message via ClassCharts or a phone call if their child has missed any lessons without reporting the absence.

  2. Module report – Students’ attainment and engagement in learning is assessed and reported to students and parents via three module reports per year. These reports will be discussed at our achievement evening which take place in the Autumn term for both Year 12 and Year 13
